Career
J. Alexander (Miss J) began working with Elite Model Management in New York City as a teenager. Elite allowed him to model for for Jean Paul Gaultier He later modeled in Tokyo and eventually moved to Paris in 1991. Currently living in Paris, he coaches and casts runway models for Valentino, Galliano, Bill Blass, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Nina Ricci. J. is one of the most in demand runway coaches in the world. The favorite part of his job is modeling in charity runway shows.

America's Next Top Model
J. met Tyra Banks backstage at a runway show when she was sixteen years old and they have been friends since. Although he appeared as a runway coach on ANTM in the first four cycles, he didn't start judging until cycle five. He is known on the show for dressing in drag which is what got him the nickname Miss J in cycle one. J has caused controversy by said that he doesn't believe plus size models have a fair advantage on the show.
